Description

In the intertwining ferry crossing, trajectories intersect but are hard to keep together.

In a small border town between Sichuan and Hunan, Cui Cui lives a simple and melodious life with her grandfather, an old ferryman. One day, the appearance of two brothers, Tian Bao and Na Song, brings ripples of love to Cui Cui's quiet life.

However, while fate brings people together, it can also cause them to miss each other for no reason. A well-intentioned gesture of fulfillment leads to an irreversible parting. Tian Bao's departure, Na Song's abrupt leave, and an accident with Grandpa... In the storm of a night, the most important people in Cui Cui's life quietly slip away. In the endless dark night, Cui Cui chooses to wait quietly for Na Song's return. As days and life go on as usual, her waiting turns into the only candlelight, becoming the most stubborn and gentle glimmer of light.

Chung Ying Theatre Company partners with Beijing Gulou Xijuyuan to adapt Mr. Shen Congwen's classic novel into a poetic musical. Under the touching melody of the maestro Zhong Zhi-Rong and the delicate direction of Director Siu-fai Szeto, this faint ink wash painting of a rural village is infused with heart-wrenching melodies.
